Procedures:

 - Diagnostic Pudendal Nerve Anesthetic Transgluteal Pudendal Nerve Block, (1 of the 5 diagnostic Nantes Criteria)

Dr. Clemans is experienced in this procedure. Anecdotal experiences, patients say she has compassionate bedside manner.

Dr. Clemans will use a steroid, so ask her not to based on the 2016 randomized double-blind Nantes trial. She uses fluoroscopy for about 10 seconds and also uses ultrasound to locate ischial spine and then pudendal nerve which is standard.

She offers sedation to those who need/want it but try to avoid it for this critical diagnostic test. The procedure is painless is done correctly by a physician with experience. Doctor uses thin 22-gauge needle. You want to be wide AWAKE ideally to feel IF/When the Bupivacaine (Marcaine) takes 5 to 10 minutes to start working. Anesthetic block will last 4 to 8 hours.

NOTE: If you're on sedative medication, you will not be able to as accurately feel the numbing effect If Positive, If your pain remains, you do not have PN. It is always worth the tie for a second block to confirm.
