SPRINT PNS

One of Four Peripheral Nerve Stimulators (PNS)

Sprint is one of the four PNS companies in the U.S. It is the only one meant to be temporary: 60 days. "The stimulation is believed to interrupt the pain signals, boost the healthy non-pain signals, and help rebalance the information the brain receives" - therefore "curing" the incorrect pain signals, but we have not been able to confirm this claim. We doubt it because most PN paitents have suffered with chronic pain for years to decades. If this worked, everyone would use Spirnt and be done with PNS.

Is the SPRINT PNS System is MR safe?  The SPRINT PNS System is MR unsafe but temporary.

Adhesive or Wearable?

ADHESIVE

There have been issues with the adhesive causing skin irritation.

The FDA does not require doctors to train on living people to be accredited to implant any PNS. They only need to attend a lecture with a slide presentation.Doctors can practice on cadavers if they choose. This is clearly medically unethical. PNA will write to the FDA and medical device companies - and elected representatives to change this medically unacceptable subpar requirement to implant a device into a living person.

We suspect that for 90% of doctors, you will be the FIRST implant (guinea pig) for pudendal neuralgia, regardless of the brand the doctor uses.

The only expert we know in the U.S. who has implanted more than 200 for PN is Dr. Kenneth Peters Urologist in Royal Oak, Michigan,3535 W 13 Mile Rd. Royal Oak, MI 48073 248-551-3535. We believe he uses Curonix and will confirm.

If anyone know of another doctor in the U.S. who has implanted more than 10 PNS, please email us at the address below ASAP so we can add that physician here and to our doctor list.

Some doctors will give twilight sedation during the introducer portion of the implant. The doctor can walk you up once the lead is in place (no more sticking with large needles) to test how it's working. We highly suggest this, but it's up to you and your pain mgmt. physician.

I interviewed a local rep from each PNS manufacturer for the PNA website including Sprint and did research. There have been problems with the Sprint adhesive. The entire system seemed flimsy to me (my opinion).

I asked the rep what the next step was for the PN patient. He said SPR policy is to implant the system again as soon as possible. I asked what the next step would be if it fell out again. He said to re-implant the device again. His responses and the detached. No concern for the patient.

This story, the experience of this woman, represents the worst of the medical device industry. I It shamelessly puts profit over people too often.

Not all doctors are like this doctor are inept and depraved, but I know he is not the only one. The total lack of true medical training sets up the procedure for risk to the patient.

I asked a doctor in Wisconsin. His answer was zero, but he was so arrogant that he said it didn't matter and that implanting a PNS in any part of the body is basically the same procedure. He was not happy that I asked the questions.
